Parents and Teachers as Allies
Mental Health Awareness Workshop
Wednesday March 23rd at 6.30pm
Happy Hollow LGI Room
All Parents & Guardians welcome
NAMI (National Association for Mental Illness) Parents & Teachers as Allies (PTA) workshops aim to empower and educate parents, teachers and school staff in order to make a lasting difference in the lives of young people. PTA consists of two complimentary workshops: one for teachers and school staff, the other for parents. Teachers at West Lafayette Schools received training from NAMI during the 2014-15 school year, and the workshop on March 23rd 2016 is for parents and guardians.
The 90 minute presentation will be led by a local team of 4 people who have directly experienced mental health issues, either as a parent, student, educator or advocate.
West Lafayette Community School Corporation has embraced the support from NAMI for its staff and is now offering the same opportunity for parents via this workshop organized by the Parent Council of the Junior/Senior High School.

Thank you so much to all the families who donated to Parent Council this year. With your donation, we will be able to fund teacher grants, support some school events, and show our parents appreciation for the teachers. We served a light dinner on open house night and we are getting ready to organize a breakfast in October.
We are working on the directory, it should be available by the end of September.
We will be starting the grant process next month, and we are looking forward to reading all the grants from our teachers.
If you would like to come to our monthly meetings, they are open to all and you can find the dates on this site.
It is not too late to donate. Your check for $30.00 or more will make a difference. You will have the opportunity to allow our grant process to continue enhancing student classroom experiences and of course receive the annual student directory of all Jr. High and Senior High Student families. You can donate online through Skyward, or download the form on our website and return it to the office with your donation.
Thank you for your continued support,
The Parent Council

WELCOME to Parent Council. We’d like to extend a special welcome to those of you who are new to our community and/or building. Your Parent Council Officers are ready for another year of actively supporting the West Lafayette Junior/Senior High School community of students, teachers, staff, and parents.
Our monthly meetings are open to all. Please feel free to join us to learn about what is happening in the school as well as discuss the opportunities and challenges facing our students, educators, administration, and families. Please know that your questions, interests, and insights are important to help make our school the best that it can be. You will be able to find the calendar of our meetings on the school website (http://blogs.wl.k12.in.us/jrsrpc/) and you can like us on Facebook (West Lafayette Jr./Sr. High School Parent Council) to get up-to-date information.
We look forward to the continued success of programs like the backpack program, which provides supplemental food on weekends for families in need, providing teacher grants, organizing the etiquette dinner, and providing the student directory. Our publication, the Student Directory, allows parents to build and maintain educational and community connections. The teacher grants allow our teachers to further enrich our students’ education. The etiquette dinner is a fun event at Purdue’s Marriott Hall that educates our students on the proper ways of presenting themselves in a job interview situation as well as when they are taken out for dinner or invited to a reception during an interview process.
Our monthly meetings are open to all. They provide up-to-date information on topics of interest between the school and our community. They also provide a forum to discuss the opportunities and challenges facing our students, educators, administration, and families.
Please join us, with your participation and financial support, to help make West Lafayette Jr/Sr High School be the best it can be for our students, our teachers and our community.
I look forward to meeting you,
